There are more than 60 km of fishing waters around Meldorf. No less than 45 km of the 80 km of flowing waters for which the Meldorf Sports Fishing club is responsible are cleared for fishing.
There is good fishing in the streams, in moorland lakes, ponds and naturally in the North Sea as well. The streams meet by Meldorf to form the River Miele to create part of an extensive network of waterways flowing into the North Sea through the Speicherkoog.
For many years, the Meldorf club has been carrying out stocking measures in this waterway system, so there are good prospects of landing a wide variety of different fish in these inland waters. They all offer in their way a special kind of nature experience. On the sea side, the most popular spot is the harbour mole, a location between sea. mudflats and land – where it's almost always windy!
Inland stretches of water: pike, pike-perch, perch, carp, eel, tench, white fish, river and sea trout, salmon
